Top food hygiene rating for Lowerplace School Kitchen!

This Wednesday the school kitchen had a visit from an Environmental Health Officer from Rochdale Council, to check our newly refurbished kitchen space under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. The scheme encourages businesses to improve hygiene standards, and the overarching aim is to reduce the incidence of foodborne illness.

We’re delighted to say that we have been awarded the highest rating of 5! We want to very say well done to our Kitchen Supervisor Ms Carroll and her amazing team!

Before this visit, we had been at a rating of 4 (good) because the kitchen space wasn’t really big enough to cater for the number of children that we have in school, but now that the extension has been built and the rest of the space has been refurbished, we qualify for the higher rating. We hope you’re as proud as we are!

We love Taco Tuesday!

Our kitchens have switched over to the Summer Menu, and we’re loving it – especially Taco Tuesdays!

Year 2 enjoyed tucking in to their chili-filled tacos today.

We offer a wonderful varied menu, prepared lovingly by our Catering Team. School Meals are just £10 a week for children in Year 3 or above, and free to Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 as part of the government’s ‘Universal Infant Free School Meal’ programme. National School Meals Week 2

Changes to the cost of school meals from September 2014

The cost of School Meals will be increasing by 10p per day from September 2014. School Meals will therefore cost £10.00 per week.

Payment can be made by cash each Monday morning to your child’s class teacher (please ask at either school office for some Dinner Money Envelopes, which we provide free of charge) or by using our new system ParentMail+Pay which will be up and running in September and will enable online payment.

New Menu

Our kitchen staff love to provide your children with a fantastic choice of meals each week.

All food is freshly prepared on site and is Halal certified. There are also vegetarian choices available each day.

As the weather starts to warm up (positive thinking!), the kitchens will also be providing prepared packed lunches for children who wish to enjoy a cold meal. Once our wonderful new playground is completed the children will be able to enjoy their packed lunches in our picnic areas.

If you would like your child to have a school meal, please give the office one week’s notice.
