Elf Day on Friday 9th December 2016

elfday_homepage_v2-2

We’re proud to be supporting the Alzheimer’s Society this December by taking part in their Elf Day on Friday 9th December.

We’d love you to join us – dress up as a Christmas Elf or come to school in your own clothes, and we’ll get December off to a great start! Be as elf-y as you like – wear a hat, paint your face, or dress up top to toe!

Elf Day isn’t just for elf’s sake, behind the jingle bells and baubles there’s a very serious reason why we’re asking you to get involved. Christmas can be a very lonely time for families living with dementia, you can help transform their lives with the money you raise, getting us one step closer to a cure. You can find out more about Alzheimer’s Society and the work the do to support people with demntia, their families, and research into the causes of the condition by clicking onto their webiste: Alzheimer’s Society website.

We’re asking for a donation of £1 to this brilliant cause.

Donations wanted for the Winter Fair

Winter Fair 2014

Dear Parents and Carers

We’re preparing to have our annual Winter Fair on Thursday 18th December. This is always a very popular event and we hope that you’ll help us make it a success again this year!

We would welcome any donations of bric-a-brac for our stalls, for example new or used toys, books, games, DVDs, CDs and teddies which are in good condition. Please bring any items you wish to donate into school as soon as you can.

Thank you, Mrs Kabir

WOW!

Pudsey’s little helpers have been busy this afternoon, counting and recounting all the money we’ve been raising for Children In Need this week. We’re so proud to tell you all that we’ve raised an astonishing amount this year!

Lowerplace School’s children, parents, carers and staff have raised an incredible

for BBC Children In Need 2014.

Thank you so much to everyone for your support!

“Pyjamas for Pudsey” for Children in Need!

we support children in need

The children and staff at school are enjoying wearing their pyjamas for Pudsey today! We all donated either £1 which we’ll give to the BBC Children In Need appeal, or an advent calendar for us to take to the Rochdale Food Bank who provide help to families in crisis all over Rochdale.

We’ve also been selling Pudsey keyrings and wristbands. We’ll be so proud to announce our final fundraising total in a few hours time – as usual, all of our children, parents, carers and staff have been so generous!

Please bring in any donations to the school offices before Friday 26th September.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday.

British Heart Foundation – Coffee Morning

It was lovely to see some of our parents at our British Heart Foundation Coffee Morning, which co-incided with our Parent’s Forum today.

Mrs Kelly and Mrs Kabir hosted The Coffee Morning alongside in bid to raise awareness about heart health.

We had a visit from Yasmin, a Health Trainer with the NHS, and she talked to our guests about healthy lifestyle choices. Everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and a fruit kebab provided by our lovely Kitchen team.

We also held a raffle for a voucher which was donated to us by the Silver Salon, and raised £20 which will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.

Thank you to everyone who made it a lovely morning!

If you would like to know more about healthy lifestyles, Yasmin will be holding an open morning in our Parent’s Portakabin next Friday morning from 9am – feel free to come along and enjoy a brew with us!

Thank Meow!

We have just spent the afternoon counting up all the pounds and pennies that you have all kindly donated to the Oldham Cats Rescue Centre, and we are very proud to say that you have raised a massive…

£513.32

This is a fantastic amount and we are sure that the Centre will be amazed with your efforts!

It was great to see you all with whiskers, tails and ears and as usual some of you really went all out with your outfit ideas! The Rochdale Observer newspaper (and the Manchester Evening News) came along to our assembly and they have taken some brilliant pictures of the children with our fluffy little visitors! The story will appear in this weekend’s issue of the Observer and the MEN.

One child from each class won a £5 voucher for their outfit, names and pictures will be released on the Class Blogs.

Thank you again for your generosity in this worthy cause.
