Our best Winter Fair yet!

We want to say a huge thank you to all of our children and parents, and of course to Mrs Kabir and all of the parents in the Lowerplace Parent’s Forum, for making our Winter Fair such a massive success! We all had a fantastic day with the games, stalls and food, and it was wonderful to see Father Christmas too!

We have managed to raise an amazing sum:

Well done everyone and thank you again!

Christmas dinner gets crazy

Yesterday was a blur of festive fun, and also the most important date of the season – Christmas dinner day. We offered a choice of turkey or our famous cheese quiche with all the Christmas trimmings (including Brussels sprouts, yum!) and our kitchen crew gave us all a huge surprise…

Have you ever been served dinner by a Christmas cracker?

It was a fantastic meal, and we all enjoyed it very much. Thank you Miss Carroll and your elves! Thumbs up from the school staff!

The staff all enjoyed their Christmas dinner too!

Countdown to Christmas!

It’s Monday 19th December, so we have 2 more school days until the Christmas holidays and it’s only 5 until Christmas Day!

Today is quite quiet on the celebration front, we’ll be festive again tomorrow. This afternoon, our learning mentor Mrs Kelly will be tallying the figures and letting the classes know who’s been Green All Term as those children will have their Good To Be Green reward session tomorrow morning.

If your child would like to come to school in a Christmas jumper or other festive clothes, they’re very welcome to on Tuesday 20th December.

We have a festive craft morning for parents of Year 1 – 6 from 9:15am to 10:15am in classrooms on Tuesday, so please pop in to that if you get the chance. If your child has won the Green All Term award, you can accompany them to the reward instead.

We’re also looking forward to Christmas Dinner on Tuesday, and then the children will have parties in classrooms in the afternoon. I expect there to be a ridiculous amount of fun!

On Wednesday 21st December, we’re wearing uniform as usual, and will be welcoming Pyramid Productions to school with their pantomime “Peter Pan”. All children in school will be watching the show.

School ends at 3:15pm on Wednesday 21st December 2016. We have a teacher training day in January so school starts for pupils on Wednesday 4th January 2017 at 8:50am.

Winter Fair today!

It’s finally the day of the Winter Fair! Mrs Kabir and all of the incredible parents of the Lowerplace Parents Forum have been super busy for the last month, making sure everything is just right for the big day today!

Father Christmas is already here and is so happy to be seeing the children! He didn’t park his sleigh in the school car park, I’m pleased to say, but I’m sure I can see Rudolph munching some grass out on the school field.

There are so many stalls to visit, with games to play and things to buy, and the always-important food stalls, with everything homemade by our awesome Parents Forum!

Each class will visit at a set time during the day, and then children can come back at the end of the school day too. Parents are very welcome to come to the Fair while their children are attending, and of course at the end of the school day too.

Please see the document below for the timeslot that your child’s year group will visit the fair.

The Lowerplace Winter Fair – Friday 16th December 2016

We’re so excited for the Winter Fair! Mrs Kabir and all of the incredible parents of the Lowerplace Parents Forum have been super busy for the last month, making sure everything is just right for the big day this Friday.

Father Christmas will be arriving early on Friday morning – I wonder if he’ll park his sleigh in the school car park? We’ll have food, stalls and games for the children to visit, and we’ll be opening the doors to parents too so please do pop along, it’s always such a fun event!

Each class will visit at a set time during the day, and then children can come back at the end of the school day too. Please remember to send some money in with your child on Friday, and if they have sent back the reply slip to visit Santa, please also send in their £2 for that.

There will be a raffle at the Winter Fair, we are selling tickets for the draw in classrooms all this week, for 25p each or 5 for £1.

Please see the document below for the timeslot that your child’s year group will visit the fair.

Everything’s Christmassy at Lowerplace!

Well, we’re definitely on track for Christmas at Lowerplace. We had a hugely successful Alzheimer’s Society Elf Day last Friday (and the school elves are in the process of counting up the money – thank you so much for your generosity!) and the first performance of the Key Stage 2 show “Away With The Manger”.

We want to say a huge thank you to parents and other family members for their patience with the ticketing for the KS2 shows; as you know we have to limit the number of people in the Hall for fire safety, so ticketing the events is the only way we can be sure that we’re not over that limit.

Check below for the other exciting events at school over the next week and a half! We’re breaking up at 3:15pm on Wednesday 21st December 2016, and are back in at 8:50am on Wednesday 4th January 2017.

Thank you for your support at the Winter Fair!

We wanted to extend our thanks to the Lowerplace Parents Forum and Lowerplace Staff for all their hard work to make the Winter Fair the incredible success it was, and to all our pupils and parents who came along and had a blast!

We’re proud to announce that this year, we’ve raised more than ever before, an incredible:

Winter Fair 2015 total

It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the whole Lowerplace family – THANK YOU!

Friday 18th December – Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day!

text_santa_logo

We’re excited for this Friday – not just because it’s the last day of term, but also because it’s Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day!

We love any excuse to dress up at Lowerplace, so we’re asking everyone to contribute £1 to the Text Santa campaign, which this year is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish UK and Save The Children, and to come to school in something festive.

Don’t worry if you don’t already have a Christmas jumper – your sparkliest party clothes (or even your non-sparkly party clothes!) will look just as good!

We’ll also be selling raffle tickets all this week for the chance to win Cadbury’s selection boxes – there are two prizes per class, so the odds are pretty good. Raffle tickets will be on sale in classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, for 20p each or 5 for £1.

Please send the money in to your child’s class teacher with your child, NOT to the office.
